Trapped by your own identity
The image is of a modern sculpture in the Indian section of the British Museum. To me it represents a person attempting to escape the bounds of confinement, for example the role one is playing in a job at work. For a Hindu it could represent the bounds set by his or her caste in this present life, whether or not this constraint is now lawful in INDIA.
With caste-linked dharma influencing or even determining what work a person may do, one can envisage situations in organisations where innovation is constrained because it requires people to aquire new job roles that are suited to their capabilities.
Using VES to represent existing and new business models enables conversations to be held on the challenges innovation creates and solutions to be identified. It may even touch upon that central concept of Hinduism, moksha (liberation).
